Arnold G. Jones Bursary Application

Bursary Guidelines:

A bursary is a grant given to a deserving student by an individual or an organization to help that student with their future studies. A memorial bursary often has special criteria attached that reflect what was important to the person whose name is attached to the bursary.

The Arnold G. Jones Bursary is intended to recognize and assist students who have decided to continue their higher education. These students must have demonstrated a commitment to learning; a high standard of involvement in school, the community and/or volunteering; maturity and responsibility; initiative; and/or strength of character.

Preference in awarding the bursary shall be given to graduating high school students. Previous recipients are not eligible for an additional bursary. Applicants who do not receive a bursary are encouraged to reapply for the next year.

Eligible applicants must be either children or grandchildren of members of the Nova Scotia Association of REALTORS®.
This includes stepchildren, step-grandchildren, and children and grandchildren of common-law relationships. Assistance will be given in the form of a bursary.

The Selection Committee will consider the following in selecting the recipients:

  • involvement in school and/or community and volunteer work
  • future plans (career education)
  • work experience, if applicable
  • difficulties or obstacles that have been overcome

Bursaries are given out in multiples of $3,000 each, to top applicants recommended by the committee. In the event the Bursary Selection Committee determines there are no eligible applicants each year, the bursaries shall not be awarded.
