There are a lot of tools – online and off – that you can access without a REALTOR®. So it may not be apparent how working with a REALTOR® can help you buy a home.

Your REALTOR® will help you:

Choose the right home for you
Though you may think you know what you’re looking for, the search for your dream home can be overwhelming, and there are lots of questions you’ll want to ask yourself: house or condo? Urban, suburban, or rural? Detached, semi-detached, or town house? New or resale? Your REALTOR® has thorough knowledge of the homes on the market and can show you what’s available, and then help you decide what is right for you.

Sell your current home as you prepare to buy a new one
Your REALTOR® can help sell your current home, and eliminate a large part of the stress in doing so, while you search for your new one. A REALTOR® can help you determine the best time to sell, establish a price, and prepare your home to be on the market, in a timely way that works with the purchase of your new home.

Make an offer
Finding your dream home is exciting – but there will still be work to be done to make it yours. Your REALTOR® can help take all of the necessary steps to prepare an offer, which could include: determining a purchase price, making a deposit, and establishing any clauses particular to the agreement, such as a proper home inspection. With your REALTOR® on your side, you can be sure that no details will be overlooked in your offer.

Find a home inspector
Once you’ve found your home, your REALTOR® can help you take the necessary precautions to ensure there are no unpleasant surprises. They can help you find a qualified home inspector and give you an idea of what you should be looking for in this inspection.

Close the purchase
Once your offer is accepted, your REALTOR® will be your best resource in helping you close the purchase, beginning with satisfying any conditions of the agreement that require action, filling out documents, engaging a lawyer, and providing you with counsel on all of the final arrangements before you move in!
